From Milan/Lecco there are three options:
1- From Lecco take theSS36, exit onto SP72 (Abbadia, Mandello, Varenna) and continue as far as Varenna. In Varenna follow directions for Esino Lario and once you get to Esino continue on to Cainallo.
2- From Lecco take the SS36, exit at Bellano, take SP65 (Parlasco, Esino Lario) and keep going straight until you come to the turn-off for Cainallo.
3- From Lecco take SP62 through Valsassina as far as Cortenova and from there SP65 in the direction of Parlasco-Esino Lario. Continue on this road until you come to the turn-off for Cainallo.
From Cainallo (Vo di Moncodeno) in 1 h 30 (trail 24)
The car park above Cainallo is a pay car park (€4 a day), and you must get the ticket at Hotel Cainallo.
Once you have parked your car, start walking on trail no. 24 following directions for Rifugio Bietti Buzzi!
From Mandello (Somana) in 3 h 30 (trail 15)
